General Functions of Renal System

The urinary system is made up of:

1.	Two kidneys which remove the waste and excess substances from the blood
2.	Two ureters which transport urine from the kidneys to
3.	The urinary bladder which acts as a reservoir of urine.
4.	A urethra which is the duct through which urine flows from the bladder to the outside.

Each kidney contains around a million nephrons, the functional units of the urinary system. The kidneys clear around 1700L of blood every day.
