-
Insulin binds to receptor proteins on the cell surface.
-
This binding produces dimerisation of the receptors.
-
Followed by phosphorylation of the receptor.
-
The phosphorylated receptor in turn woudl phosphorylate
a number of cytoplasmic proteins thus activating a cascade of events.
-
This cascade of events would result in the activation
or deactivation of genes through various mechanisms including IP3
and Calcium release
