Insulin Mechanism

The sequence of events for Insulin would be the following:

  1. Insulin binds to receptor proteins on the cell surface.

  2. This binding produces dimerisation of the receptors.

  3. Followed by phosphorylation of the receptor.

  4. The phosphorylated receptor in turn woudl phosphorylate a number of cytoplasmic proteins thus activating a cascade of events.

  5. This cascade of events would result in the activation or deactivation of genes through various mechanisms including IP3 and Calcium release
